Foot Pain
The foot is made up of 26 bones, 30 joints and hundreds of tendons and ligaments. Together they hold and support the foot to help us stand and function in our day-to-day activities. It is not surprising that when we have foot pain, it can impact us greatly. Foot pain can hold you back from exercise, but also from maintaining your ability to function, something as simple as walking from your car to work can now seem like a daunting task. At Evolve Podiatry Bendigo, our podiatrists are the experts in managing foot pain and we should be your first port of call for any foot or lower limb related pain.

What does foot pain feel like?
Pain is vast in its sensation and intensity; we see a varied range of differences in symptoms from person to person. Just because your aunty Mary had severe pain from her bunions and needed surgery, does not mean that you will; equally so, if someone had a foot problem that resolved quickly with minimal pain, this doesn’t mean you will experience the same luck.
Every person’s pain is unique and therefore every treatment we provide is unique. Foot pain can be severely debilitating, some sufferers may not be able to weight bear at all and others find it can impact their day enough that they can’t perform their usual daily activities.
The best advice we can give you, is to seek advice for your foot pain early. It will make the management of your condition much speedier than if left for months or years.
How can we help your foot pain?
As Podiatrists, we are the experts in assessing, diagnosing, and managing foot pain. We will take a full history to help us formulate a strong diagnosis along with a thorough foot and biomechanical assessment.
At Evolve Podiatry Bendigo, our primary focus will be identifying the cause of your pain. Without this knowledge and understanding of your condition, management may just be providing a “band aid” and leave you with short-lived results. We will usually provide immediate treatment with padding and strapping to reduce pain and further help identify the cause of your pain.
We treat dynamically and holistically and will often utilise adjunct therapies to help speed up recovery; this may also include a referral onto other trusted health care professionals. We have a vast range of treatment methods, and we are positive we will be able to find the cure for your foot pain.
We will continue to treat and monitor your pain levels over time, looking for a reduction in duration of pain experienced and in increase in your ability to function; all whilst being considerate of any potential differential diagnoses as your pain and symptoms evolve.

Questions We Frequently Get Asked About Foot Pain
Often it can be your shoes that are causing your foot pain, unless you have sought professional advice from a Podiatrist, it may well be that this is the cause of your foot pain.
A statement we often hear from people with foot pain is “it’s just osteoarthritis, there’s nothing you can do”. This statement could not be further from the truth! We have helped hundreds, if not thousands, of patients with life-long relief from their osteoarthritis pain. From something as simple as basic footwear changes to suit their foot type; to foot orthoses that redistribute pressure and reduce excessive irritation through an affected joint.
